Pakistan-Linked Gang’s Involvement in Punjab Cop Attack Exposed
Punjab Police Unveil International Links Behind Cop Attack
In a startling revelation, the Punjab Police have exposed a gang operating with connections to Pakistani handlers, suspected to be behind a brazen attack on a police officer in the Amritsar district. This network was reportedly orchestrated from within prison walls by an inmate who managed to reconnect with Pakistani intelligence operatives via a mobile phone.
The incident occurred on October 4 when ASI Sukhchain Singh, stationed at the Government Railway Police in Amritsar, was ambushed near his residence in Jagdev Khurd village. As Singh was returning home on his motorcycle, three individuals approached him. In a deliberate attack, one of the assailants opened fire, injuring Singh in the arm. The ambush appeared to be meticulously planned, aiming to cause panic and fear among the public.
Accused Injured While Attempting to Flee
Authorities reported that during a confrontation on Monday, one of the accused sustained injuries in a dramatic attempt to evade arrest. The individual allegedly tried to seize a police officer’s firearm during the scuffle, intensifying the situation. This bold escape attempt demonstrates the determined and volatile nature of those involved in the criminal operation.
Prison Connections and Terror Finance
The gang’s activities have been traced back to Baljit Singh, an inmate at Goindwal Sahib Central Jail. Singh is accused of reviving his alliance with handlers from Pakistan’s ISI through clandestine communications. It’s alleged that this connection was used to orchestrate the attack on Singh, with promises of financial rewards amounting to Rs 10 lakh for successful execution. This financial incentive is believed to be part of a larger agenda to destabilize the region through acts of terror.
Social Media Propaganda
In a further twist, the attack was claimed on social media by a group identifying itself as Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan (TTH), adding layers of complexity to the investigation. This online assertion serves to enhance the psychological impact of the attack, propagating fear and unrest more swiftly across platforms.
The recurring theme of incarcerated individuals conducting operations from behind bars raises critical questions about security lapses within prison systems. How Baljit Singh managed to maintain such vital communications remains a focal point of the investigation as authorities work to prevent future incidents.
