Faridabad Police Investigates Missing Firearms Case, 32 Weapons Unaccounted For

In a shocking incident, 32 licensed weapons, including a number of high-value foreign-made firearms, have mysteriously disappeared from the police armory at a police station in Faridabad, Haryana. This alarming situation has prompted a criminal investigation and the suspension of the malkhana in-charge, as reported by PTI.

As detailed by PTI, these firearms were securely stored at the Sector Eight police station after their owners voluntarily surrendered them for safekeeping. After conducting an internal inquiry, a formal theft case was initiated against ASI Bijendra Singh, the malkhana in-charge, who has now been suspended by Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta. Additionally, a departmental investigation has been launched to delve deeper into the matter.

According to police sources, the missing collection includes several foreign-manufactured pistols valued between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. Investigators speculate that some of these weapons might have been trafficked to Rajasthan and the Delhi-NCR region, though no official confirmation on this allegation has been issued by the police.

The alarming discrepancy was first detected during a routine inspection. An initial audit revealed 13 missing weapons; however, a thorough follow-up verification uncovered that the total had escalated to 32.

Upon this discovery, senior police officials mandated a comprehensive investigation, which verified the theft of all 32 weapons. Sources disclosed that the investigating team has been ordered by senior officers to keep details related to the case confidential while the search for the missing firearms is ongoing.

Commenting on the investigation, Faridabad police commissioner stated, “The matter is under investigation. Whoever played a role in the theft of the weapons will not be spared.”

This incident raises serious concerns regarding the security measures in place at police facilities and the accountability of personnel responsible for safeguarding public property. As the investigation progresses, the authorities are under increasing pressure to resolve the situation and provide answers to both the public and the affected parties.
