Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden’s Residence Vandalized, Suspect Arrested
A 43-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly causing a disturbance and vandalizing property at the residential premises of Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden. The suspect, identified as Alex Chacko, is a resident of Thripunithura.
The incident reportedly occurred around 3 AM on Thursday at the MP’s residence located on George Eden Road, Kaloor.
Reports suggest that the accused trespassed onto the property, threatened to murder Mr. Eden, and even set fire to his car. Additionally, he allegedly damaged approximately 30 flower pots situated in the front yard.
As per the first information report (FIR), the alleged offenses stemmed from Mr. Eden’s questioning of certain communal remarks made by the accused during their previous telephone conversations.
The police have initiated a case following a complaint lodged by the MP’s wife, Anna Linda Eden.
The charges against the accused include house trespass, criminal intimidation, and mischief, as outlined under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities confirmed that he has been presented before the court and has since been remanded.
