BJP Criticizes Tamil Nadu CM Over Ammonia Leak Victims’ Families

The president of the BJP’s state unit, Nainar Nagenthran, expressed his discontent on Thursday regarding Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s failure to meet the families affected by the recent ammonia leak at a factory in the Tiruvallur district.

In a pointed social media post, he questioned the Chief Minister’s priorities, stating,

“When you keep meeting those from the cine industry every day, you don’t have time or the mind to meet the families of the deceased and console them? Or will they get words of consolation only if they come to Panaiyur [where the residence of Mr. Vijay is located]?”

Nagenthran reiterated his criticisms aimed at the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led government, citing a lack of safety for women and the alleged involvement of DMK members in various offenses.

Constitution Murder Day Observance

In a separate social media message, Nagenthran highlighted the observation of ‘Constitution Murder Day’ by the BJP. This day commemorates the imposition of the Emergency in 1975 under then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, marking a significant moment in Indian democracy.

He emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens to bolster democratic institutions and ensure such events do not recur, a sentiment that resonates in the current political climate of Tamil Nadu.

This critique from the BJP highlights ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the state government, particularly in the wake of recent tragedies that have raised concerns about governance and accountability in the region.
