Residents of East Sussex have witnessed the grand opening of Wellbeing Square in Newhaven, a pioneering project designed to improve healthcare access and enhance community wellbeing. The facility, a £21 million initiative, aims to integrate primary healthcare, community wellbeing, and leisure facilities under one roof, offering a comprehensive service to the local population.

The Wellbeing Square project has repurposed a collection of underutilized buildings into a modern health hub. Led by Lewes District Council, the development not only promises to provide cutting-edge healthcare facilities but also plays a crucial role in the larger regeneration efforts within Newhaven. The new hub houses two state-of-the-art GP practices, a pharmacy, and the expanded Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre managed by Wave Active. Additionally, it includes spaces for co-working and creative pursuits. These facilities collectively serve approximately 15,000 residents, with over 5,500 healthcare appointments available each month, marking a significant enhancement in healthcare delivery for the community.
