Sonia Gandhi Criticizes Modi Government’s Inaction on Gaza Crisis
In a vehement attack on the Modi administration, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday (June 27, 2026), criticized its silence and inaction concerning the crisis in Gaza, referring to these as not only morally indefensible but also lacking rationale from a national interest perspective.
As Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Ms. Gandhi argued that India has distanced itself from its historical allies in Palestine and Iran, as well as from broader Middle Eastern sentiments, allowing Pakistan to assume the role of a mediator in this ongoing crisis.
In her article published in The Indian Express, she characterized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel prior to a U.S.-Israel joint military action against Iran as a
